PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD
“Therefore thus will I do unto thee, O Israel: and because I will do this unto thee, prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.” Amos 4:12.
“In this age, just prior to the second coming of Christ in the clouds of heaven, such a work as that of John is to be done. God calls for men who will prepare a people to stand in the great day of the Lord. The message preceding the public ministry of Christ was, Repent, publicans and sinners; repent, Pharisees and Sadducees; “repent you: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” As a people who believe in Christ’s soon coming, we have a message to bear, “Prepare to meet thy God.”
Our message must be as direct as was the message of John. He rebuked Kings for their iniquity. Notwithstanding that his life was imperilled, he did not hesitate to declare God’s word. And our work in this age must be done as faithfully.
In order to give such a message as John gave, we must have a spiritual experience like his. The same work must be wrought in us. We must behold God, and in beholding Him, lose sight of self.” –Gospel Workers, p. 55.
“In the world-renowned health resorts and centres of tourist traffic, crowded with many thousands of seekers after health and pleasure, there should be stationed ministers and canvassers capable of arresting the attention of the multitudes. Let these workers watch their chance for presenting the message for this time, and hold meetings as they have opportunity. Let them be quick to seize opportunities to speak to the people. Accompanied by the power of the Holy Spirit, let them meet the people with the message borne by John the Baptist, “Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” Matthew 3:2. The Word of God is to be presented with clearness and power, that those who have ears to hear may hear the truth. Thus the gospel of present truth will be placed in the way of those who know it not, and it will be accepted by not a few, and carried by them to their own homes in all parts of the world.” –Evangelism, p. 585.
Questions to think about:
Must we prepare the way of Christ’s second coming as John prepared the way of Christ first coming?
Do we really acknowledge exactly what we need to do just as it is written in the Bible and the Spirit of prophecy?
Are we ready for the final spiritual battle?
