News from Nepal
Greetings in the name of Jesus Christ from the land of Nepal.
Dear brethren in Christ in the Oceania region, we were very pleased to receive financial support from the General Conference and from Australia in support for our suffering brethren after the destructive earthquakes here in Nepal. We see your love expressed by your generous sacrifice in support for your brothers and sisters in Christ in Nepal.
I would like to supply a brief report to our brethren in Oceania.
Since receiving the funds for relief, I have been going around the country to see our members. Thankfully no one died but unfortunately a lot of homes have been damaged. I am travelling with two believers and our journey around Nepal has lasted almost one month. The money we received is being used for food, clothes and especially blankets because so many have lost their belongings in their damaged houses. Now we are helping people by giving them tin sheets which is helpful for roof construction. We need to construct them very soon because the rainy season will soon be upon us.
Most of our members who were attending the church in Kathmandu have all gone back to their villages because of the relief work from Government Aid taking place there. There used to be many members in Kathmandu, but now only the members from the local area attend our meetings. We hold our meetings outside in nature because we cannot use our regular church meeting house as it has been damaged by the earthquake.
Thirteen of our members on the northern border, near China have all moved because the government has deemed the land too hazardous. I have not yet found where they are staying. Just last week I got a phone call from two brothers from that area. Very soon I will see them and try to help them however I can. Please pray for the remaining eleven members who have been displaced from the northern border.
Thank you for sending your financial support, love and prayers to your brethren here in Nepal.
May God bless you abundantly.
With God’s grace,
Rakesh and family
