He had to be made like His brethren
“Therefore, in all things He had to be made like His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself has suffered, being tempted, He is able to aid those who are tempted. Hebrews 2: 17, 18
We can never have a clear appreciation of the value of our Redeemer, until, by an eye of faith, we see Him taking upon Himself the nature of man, the capacity to suffer, and then reaching the very depths of human wretchedness, that by His divine power He might save even the vilest sinner. The Signs of the Times, March 17, 1887 par. 10
As we see His love, as we meditate upon His humiliation and sufferings, the same spirit of self-denial and sacrifice for the good of others will be kindled in our hearts. As we behold Jesus by the eye of faith, we shall be “changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” (see Rom.8.2) The Signs of the Times, Feb 6, 1893 par. 8
