Fiji field conference
Greetings to our friends and brethren! Our Fijian brethren greet you all in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, our Saviour and friend. Together we share the blessed hope of the soon coming of the Lord and with great urgency seek to be prepared to meet the Lord when he comes.
We recently held our Field re-organisational Conference and it has been a great pleasure and a blessing for us to have Pr. Anton Salavyov, Oceania Division President back in the Fiji Islands, to come and conduct this important meeting and more so share refreshing spiritual messages to the brethren.
The work in Fiji has extended some years now with new church groups being established in many new places. It was at one of these new church groups that we had chosen to hold the conference – a location two hours drive north of the main island of Viti Levu nearer to the seaside.
On Friday, everybody had gathered together for opening Sabbath. The majority of our members live next to the main capital while others live in villages or individual settlements, so on this occasion they travelled to the rural village site for the meeting.
Our theme for the conference, ‘Choose you this day whom will you serve?’ challenged each participants to give a definite answer regarding their spiritual priorities.
Brethren, we need to answer this question – to our soul, we need to answer this question to the brethren, and we need to answer this question to God! We need to come clean, who we are serving? Unless we choose and give the right answer, we are serving something else in the place of God.
Our small local church was filled with our members and also few visitors. The blessing came with the series of power point presentations by Pr Salavyov entitled ‘Gold refined seven times’ and ‘The root of all evil’. He emphasised how God repeats the same process of spiritual cleansing and growth processes through different periods of our experience and how we are fortunate to undergo the same spiritual growing experience daily, so that we may be prepared for Christ’s daily coming in our lives and then with amazing joy we will experience His second coming as well.
God expects no less than the 7 times refined gold in us now as he has always required it from His children in the past. Till the closing of the Sabbath everyone dispersed with fulfilment that we had shared the true blessing of another Sabbath.
Sunday opened with the ocean baptism of two young sisters, Makereta and Litia. This was followed by their acceptance, Holy Communion service, followed by lunch before we spent the rest of the afternoon with the reorganisation of the work and lastly with the ordination of church elders. Despite, the length of time we had together, the Lord’s presence was felt throughout with the smooth running of the meeting to its conclusion.
We have a big responsibility to take up in our region, both as individuals and also collectively as a church. Our numbers may be few and there is not much we alone can do, but we believe as we put all of our limited energies and capabilities into the hands of the Lord, we can be sure of our success.
We would like to extend our thankfulness for your prayers, thoughts and support to the Fijian Field as well for the Pacific region. We cannot be successful in our efforts if it was not for your support, so likewise we would continue to plead that for your support and be mindful of the ultimate course that Jesus has laid for us, to finish the work to prepare the people to meet the Lord.
May we continue to work together in the Lord, this is our wish and prayer.
God bless you all.
