‘HOW TO BECOME A TRULY CONVERTED DISCIPLE OF JESUS’
Matt 18: 3 ‘Verily I say unto you, except ye be converted and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven.’
The starting day of our conference was Friday morning, when everyone arrived safely at Toongabbie Church to fellowship with one another in uplifting the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord and hear the message on ‘How to become a truly converted disciple of Jesus.’ We were blessed to be joined by members from WA, QLD, SA, VIC, NSW’s Mid North Coast and New Zealand, as well as members and visitors from the Sydney area.
Preparing for Sabbath opening was very special and many dear fellow believers and some visitors attended the service. The message was a call for daily conversion among God’s people and understanding the importance of humility in becoming a true Christian. ‘Clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ (1 Peter 5: 5)
The Spirit of God was pleading through His word that everyone must grow in spiritual advancement and reflect the image of Christ in their daily lives. The people greeted one another after the evening service and headed off to their own place of rest. ‘In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you alone, O Lord, make me to dwell in safety.’ (Psalm 4: 8)
The Sabbath day service also was another huge blessing, beginning with sharing and discussing of the Sabbath School lesson in the morning, the divine service and the young people’s meeting in the afternoon after a beautiful lunch. Br Glen Higgins shared a wonderful sermon about having a deeper conversion. ‘A consecrated Christian life is ever shedding light and comfort and peace and those who are in daily communion with Christ show meekness in their characters.’ Jesus had called us to live his life and daily walk in his footsteps.
On Sunday, which was a nice, warm and sunny day, all the brothers and sisters united again to witness the baptism of Joseph Teariki from Melbourne at Lake Illawara in Wollongong. ‘He that believeth and is baptised shall be saved, but he that believeth not shall be damned. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.’ (John 3: 5) Brother Joe had shared a testimony of trusting wholly upon the leading hand of God in his life. It was a wonderful ceremony that it was well attended by many members, visitors and children.
Pastor Anton Salavyov thanked and farewelled everyone and wished each of them a safe trip home.
‘Finally brethren, rejoice, be made complete, be comforted, be like minded, live in peace, and the God of love and peace will be with you all.’ (2 Corinthians 13: 11)
