“And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.” 2 Thessalonians 3:5.
The value of a man is estimated in heaven according to the capacity of the heart to know God. This knowledge is the spring from which flows all power. God created man so that every faculty might be the faculty of the divine mind, and He is ever seeking to bring the human mind into association with the divine. He offers us the privilege of cooperation with Christ in revealing His grace to the world, so that we may receive increased knowledge of heavenly things.
Looking unto Jesus we obtain brighter and more distinct views of God, and by beholding we become changed. Goodness, and love for our fellow men, become our natural instinct. We develop a character that is the counterpart of the divine character. Growing into His likeness, we enlarge our capacity for knowing God. More and more we enter into fellowship with the heavenly world, and we have continually increasing power to receive the riches of the knowledge and wisdom of eternity. –Christ’s Object Lessons, pp. 354, 355.
Make God your entire dependence. When you do otherwise, then it is time for a halt to be called. Stop right where you are, and change the order of things… Insincerity, in soul-hunger, cries after God. Wrestle with the heavenly agencies until you have the victory. Put your whole being into the Lord’s hands soul, body, and spirit, and resolve to be His loving, consecrated agency, moved by His will, controlled by His mind, infused by His Spirit … then you will see heavenly things clearly. –Sons and Daughters of God, p. 105.
